Data Scientist required for a leading medical device company based in Limerick. The companies FDA regulated Limerick facility has grown consistently over the last 20 years to become one of the most important sites in its global operations. This facility specialises in the production of disposable contact lenses in a state of the art operation which includes injection moulding, robotics, vision systems and sterilisation systems in a Class 100,000 cleanroom environment. The facility has over 50 fully automated manufacturing lines and the product is untouched by a human hand from start to finish of the process.

In this role the Data Scientist will:
o Demonstrates data mining and machine learning expertise based on a foundation of statistical principles and applied experience.
o Ensures the application of appropriate methodology to resolve business problems and meet project objectives with a demonstrated understanding of the functional area.
o Collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate complex business problems into an actionable analytics framework, with the support of Advanced Analytics management.
o Exercises judgement in the selection of data mining methods to ensure results are accurate and reproducible.
o Works cross-functionally to understand source data and to identify and resolve data integrity issues.
The Data Scientist requires:
o Master’s degree in a Statistics discipline (e.g. Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, Industrial Engineering or related field with sufficient concentration of coursework in statistics) is required.
o An excellent knowledge of data mining algorithms for both supervised and unsupervised learning is required (e.g. generalized linear mixed models, classification and regression trees, neural networks, support vector machines, k-means clustering, random forests, ensemble modeling).
o Expertise in at least one statistical programming language for data mining and/or machine learning is required (e.g. R, SAS, Python).
